LEICESTER v POTTERS - PREVIEW

Friday 04 October, 2019
STOKE supporters are urged to turn out in force for what is expected to be the Potters final team commitment in the recent era as the club travel to the East Midlands in the second leg of the KO Cup semi-final against the Leicester Lion Cubs at the Paul Chapman & Sons Arena on Saturday night.

The Potters will go on second in a double-header (7.30pm) which sees’ Cradley race firstly (5.30pm) in their play-off semi-final second leg against the Lion Cubs meaning 30-heats of action at the Leicester circuit.

Stoke trail by 18-points after the first leg in what was the final speedway meeting at Loomer Road losing out 54-36 to the Lion Cubs.

The Potters will be at full strength for the final meeting with everyone of the side being available, but there is a change in the rider line-up which sees’ local youngster Joe Alcock move into the number 2 race jacket with Shelby Rutherford moving to reserve.

The Potters team manager Adam Isherwood commented “Well this could well be goodbye to the club in the near future and I hope that we see plenty of Stoke supporters cheering us on from the stands, as it really would be good for the lads. We are not expected to pull back an 18-point deficit, but in speedway you never know what might happen, the one thing I can say we are going to Leicester to do our very best. I’m sure it will be an emotional night for us as a team and for our supporters as we don’t know when or if we will see the Potters race jacket or club in competitive action again or not.”
